Topic: Understanding the Power of CRT Planning - Eliminate the Headache,
The charitable remainder trust (CRT) is one of the most powerful tax, retirement and estate planning tools in a financial planner’s toolbox; but, few of us really understand when to use it or how it works. In this program, Michael Coppes, Director of Estate and Gift Planning at UH Foundation will: 1) provide a brief overview of the tax environment that makes a CRT so appealing to the right client; 2) discuss the interplay between a client’s priorities for financial security and the very personal consideration of what the client’s personal legacy will ultimately be; 3) provide technical background on CRT regs; and, 4) conclude with case studies of actual CRT gifts that illustrate who, how, when and why to consider recommending the use of a CRT to a client, particularly a client who owns highly appreciated investment real estate the client would like to convert tax-free to a managed diversified investment portfolio.
Speaker: Michael Coppes, Dir. of Estate & Gift Planning -- UH Foundation
